Fire Alarm & Maintenance Engineer

About the role

This is a field-based role servicing and maintaining fire alarm systems and extinguishers for a mixed client base — housing providers, schools, care homes, NHS sites, offices and facilities management contractors. The patch is mainly within a 50-mile radius, though occasional nationwide travel with an overnight stay is part of the job.

You will be out on your own most days, so we are looking for someone who can be trusted with a client, a site and a van without being chased.

What you will be doing

• Attending sites for scheduled maintenance visits
• Servicing fire alarm systems and fire extinguishers
• Fault finding across conventional and addressable systems
• Responding to emergency call-outs, including out of hours on a rota
• Recording all work on our systems, with photographs and report sheets
• Planning your day sensibly around travel time and time needed on site
• Dealing with clients face to face, on the phone and by email — properly

What we are looking for

• Proven experience across active fire alarm servicing and maintenance
• Working knowledge of Apollo, Gent, Notifier and Advanced systems
• An electrical background
• Confident fault finding on conventional and addressable panels
• Strong organisation and time management — you manage your own diary
• Good communication at every level, from caretaker to facilities director
• Clean driving licence
• Willing to travel and stay over occasionally when a job needs it
