Senior Fire Alarm Engineer

About the role

This is the step up from a service engineer role. You will be leading installations and commissioning as well as covering maintenance, and you will be the technical point of reference for the rest of the team — the one who gets the call when a system is not behaving.

The patch is Buckinghamshire and the South East, with occasional nationwide travel and the odd overnight stay when a project needs it. Design and commissioning experience is very welcome but not essential if the fault-finding is strong.

What you will be doing

• Leading fire alarm installations from first fix to handover
• Commissioning systems and producing the certification
• Servicing and maintaining alarms and extinguishers to BS 5839-1 and BS 5306
• Complex fault finding across conventional, addressable and wireless systems
• Supporting and mentoring the other engineers on site and over the phone
• Emergency call-outs, including out of hours on a rota
• Recording everything on our systems, with photographs and report sheets
• Dealing directly with clients, consultants and main contractors

What we are looking for

• Substantial experience installing, commissioning and maintaining fire alarm systems
• High-level working knowledge of Apollo, Gent, Notifier and Advanced
• Comfortable with wireless and hybrid systems as well as wired
• Strong electrical background
• Able to read and work from drawings and specifications
• Someone clients trust and junior engineers learn from
• Clean driving licence
• Willing to travel and stay over occasionally
